Winter Roadway Maintenance
When it snows
- Town staff and equipment follow the Town's Snow Removal Policy to provide efficient and consistent snow removal within Town limits.
- When municipal staff commence snow removal, they will follow the Priority Street Grading list below. At times of heavy snowfall, priorities may be adjusted by the Municipal Operations Manager at their discretion.
- No person shall push, blade, shovel, blow, or place snow that has accumulated on your private property onto a municipal sidewalk, boulevard, street/avenue or public place. This action may result in a fine according to the Town's Snow Removal Bylaw.
- Downtown sidewalks will be swept, when resources and equipment are available, when snowfall exceeds 1" (3 cm). However, every owner or occupant of a building or parcel of land in the downtown commercial district shall ensure the sidewalks parallel with the property are kept clean of snow and ice. If not completed, this may result in a fine according to the Town's bylaw.
- Please practice understanding, avoidance, and patience as our Municipal Operations staff remove snow from all locations as quickly as possible. This will ensure all streets can be safe for all residents and visitors of our community.
