Property Information Requests

The Town receives several types of property-related information for residents, lawyers, real estate professionals, and other interested parties. The most common requests include Property Interest Disclosures (PID), Tax Certificates, and Tax Searches.

A Property Interest Disclosure (PID) is a report that identifies any registered interests or financial matters associated with a property that may affect ownership or taxes.

This may include:

  • Outstanding property taxes
  • Local improvement charges or other amounts added to taxes
  • Tax liens held by the municipality
  • Other financial interests registered against the property

PIDs are commonly requested during real estate transactions to help buyers, sellers, and professionals understand any financial obligations tied to a property.

Fee: $20.00 per property

A Tax Certificate is a legal document that provides a guaranteed statement of the tax balance on a property as of a specific date (subject to legislated qualifications).

In addition to the current balance, a Tax Certificate may include:

  • Previous year’s tax levy (if current taxes are not yet levied)
  • Monthly payment (PAD) plan details
  • Penalties and interest
  • Water and sewer balances
  • Any tax liens registered against the property
  • Other amounts added to taxes in accordance with provincial legislation

Fee: $25.00 per property tax account

Each Tax Certificate applies to one property only.

A Tax Search provides a basic summary of property tax and assessment information. It is not a guaranteed statement of account.

Tax Searches include:

  • Roll number
  • Municipal address and legal description
  • Amount outstanding
  • Zoning and subdivision information
  • Assessed values
