National Drowning Prevention Week Proclamation

The Town of Rosthern is proud to recognize National Drowning Prevention Week, July 19–25, by promoting water safety, confidence, and lifesaving awareness at the Rosthern Valley Aquatic Centre.

This year's campaign highlights the importance of learning water safety skills and looking out for one another around the water. Drowning can happen quickly and silently, but many incidents are preventable through education, supervision, and safe swimming practices.

Throughout the week, the Rosthern Valley Aquatic Centre will be hosting a variety of fun, family-friendly events that encourage residents of all ages to get involved while learning about water safety:

🌊 July 21 – Free Community Swim Night
Join us for a free evening swim and celebrate being active, safe, and connected in our community.

🏅 July 22 – Pool Olympics
Put your swimming skills to the test with exciting challenges and friendly competition in the pool.

🏴‍☠️🧜 July 23 – Pirates vs. Mermaids
A fun-filled themed swim featuring games, activities, and aquatic adventures for all ages.

Learning water safety skills is one of the best ways to help prevent drowning and build confidence around water, we encourage everyone to take part in this week's activities and help create a safer community.

Whether you're an experienced swimmer or just getting comfortable in the water, we invite you to join us during National Drowning Prevention Week and help spread the message that water safety is everyone's responsibility.
